Fulfilling sexuality and partnership require a successful socio-emotional development of the individual. However, this is often disrupted or completely absent in autistic individuals due to vulnerability, but also due to exclusion and bullying.

In addition, unconscious (group) communication through, for example, facial expressions and synchronization are necessary. These skills are lacking in autistic individuals, but can certainly be compensated for.
