Health related quality of life
Today’s social situation paints an alarming picture for autistic people:
- low health-related quality of life
 - high risk of becoming a victim of bullying, exploitation, and/or violence
 - high risk of physical and mental illness
 - significantly increased risk of early death
 - high risk of suicide

And especially in the area of sexuality and relationships:
- high risk of becoming a victim of physical or sexual abuse

In order to understand these risks and thus minimize them and successfully treat existing disorders, autism theory, with its understanding of autism as a vulnerability (as opposed to an incurable disease), is necessary.
